Ruin X: the remarkable $3 million home that resembles a modern cave

A one-of-a-kind statement home, reminiscent of a modern-day cave, has made a grand return to the real estate market, hoping to obtain a selling price of about $3 million.

Known as Ruin X, the extraordinary property was the brainchild of Matt Jamieson, a renowned residential and commercial renderer from the Gold Coast company Render X.

The avant-garde home had previously changed hands in a thrilling auction held in March 2022, fetching a handsome sum of $2,713,888, according to realestate.com.au.

However, its current owner, Christopher Shao, a young Melbourne investor, has decided to part ways with the property due to work commitments, despite originally intending to use it as a holiday retreat.

Listing agent Emil Juresic, representing NGU Real Estate, revealed that Ruin X generated immense interest within hours of being put on the market.

“We have sold billions of dollars worth of real estate, and I’ve never seen anything like this property before,” he said.

“It is very unique, and the quality of workmanship is unbelievable.”

The transformation of this 1990-built house, situated on a 714sq m block at 31 Beaconsfield Dr in sought-after Burleigh Waters, was executed by acclaimed designer Jayson Pate.

Pate’s vision brought about a remarkable exterior and interior rendering, with micro cement floors and custom-built furniture contributing to the awe-inspiring effect.

The ambitious project was completed over a span of five months in 2021 and has since gained recognition as an event and photoshoot location, attracting numerous local brands and influencers.

As one approaches Ruin X, they are greeted by a curved entryway, flanked by majestic Canary palms.

Beyond the glass doors, adorned with bronze snake handles, lies a living area adorned with Venetian plaster and captivating textural finishes.

Noteworthy features of this four-bedroom, two-bathroom abode include eccentric backlit wall shelving, a formal lounge showcasing an open fireplace and an exquisite Timothy Oulten chandelier, as well as a kitchen with a marble island bench.

The master bedroom exudes sophistication, boasting a rendered built-in bed, a boutique-style dressing room, and a striking ensuite that showcases a freestanding concrete bath.

Outdoors, a covered al fresco area awaits, complete with a fully equipped bar and a gracefully curved pool featuring rendered diving boards.
