Actor and comedian Pete Davidson is selling his Westchester County retreat just three years after buying it, asking US$2.275 million (approximately A$3.6 million).

Pete purchased the North Salem property – about 90 minutes from New York City – for US$1.95 million in 2023, the year after he left Saturday Night Live.

The reason for selling? His daughter, Scottie Rose, born three and a half months ago with partner Elsie Hewitt.

His extended family lives in Staten Island and New Jersey, and the commute has become too much.

“It’s literally like living in paradise,” Pete told Mansion Global.

“The thing I hated about living in the city all the time was, I would wake up to so much noise, whether it would be garbage being picked up or people fighting or your neighbors or whatever’s going on on the street. In North Salem, I would wake up naturally, and I wouldn’t feel a thing; it was the most special feeling.”

The property spans over 6 acres and includes a 1930s cottage Pete renovated while maintaining its original character.

“I’m not a big fan of modern houses because they all kind of look the same,” he said.

“Just kind of soulless and white. I added little things to it while still keeping its integrity and charm.”

His additions include a guesthouse, movie theatre in the garage, pool, hot tub, cold-plunge pool, screened-in porches and a sauna.

There’s also a hidden speakeasy behind a sliding wall.

Pete shoots his Netflix podcast from the garage and has filmed commercials there, including his Crocs campaign.

Jaclene Ginnel of Ginnel Real Estate, who listed the property in February (originally for US$2.495 million), said it offers “absolute privacy at the end of a long gated drive, serene pond views from nearly every room, and the intimate charm of a 1930s cottage with every modern amenity reimagined.”

Pete, now living in Brooklyn, is searching for another retreat closer to the city and his family.
