Now and Then: RE/MAX celebrates Founders Day

January 30, 2018 is Founders Day, the celebration of 45 years since RE/MAX began.

What started as a dream and a plan on a pad of paper became a reality when the first office opened in Denver Colorado on January 30, 1973.

American Dave Liniger had a controversial idea to build a real estate powerhouse where experienced, productive agents would keep more of their commissions and enjoy the freedom to run their business as they saw fit. Combining a maximum-commission model with robust marketing and other agent services for the first time changed the real estate landscape forever.

Despite naysayers and critics, Dave and Gail Main (who would become Gail Liniger), laid the foundation of the network on hard work, belief and resolve, a network that would first expand outside Colorado in 1975, go international two years later, and then launch as a global brand in 1979 with the iconic RE/MAX hot air balloon.

Today, the RE/MAX network has more than 115,000 agents in over 100 countries and territories.

Dave and Gail Liniger are still in their leadership roles at RE/MAX World Headquarters in Denver. They have inspired many thousands of productive entrepreneurs to pursue their own dreams of real estate success.

RE/MAX Australia and RE/MAX New Zealand perpetuates the Liniger vision with the mission to โ€˜create and facilitate the experience of unlimited opportunities in the property industry and allied services. Everybody wins.โ€™
