Network delivers third major virtual conference

RE/MAX has brought top speakers together for an Australia-wide virtual event

The announcement:

RE/MAX partnered with BMA Event Group for EVOLVE, a virtual event bringing top speakers and networking opportunities to the Australia-wide network. RE/MAX delivers the event in conjunction with event management specialist, Imagine Experiences.

This is the third EVOLVE for the network with RE/MAX Australia managing director, Joel Davoren, saying that changes to the approach had been minimal.

“We had events in May and August last year, with our first 100% virtual, network-wide event pulled together in around three weeks out of necessity – and it blew the network away.

“This time we were less sure about the numbers we would attract because people are back in physical contact. We wondered if there would still be the appetite for the virtual platform; but, in fact, we had many hundreds, with more groups coming together in offices than in previous events.

“And while we weren’t making up for the physical restrictions in place through 2020, we increased our focus on the quality of the content.”

His opening address ‘Make the waves, don’t just ride them’ brought attention to capitalising on the current market to grow market share.

“We are incredibly busy in these current conditions and incredibly busy people can sometimes forget to look after themselves. However, this isn’t the time to just ride the market. This is the time to work on your business and make it grow.”

One of Australia’s most recognised Olympians, Brooke Hanson, was keynote speaker on the program, along with other topliners: Angelo Nickolas, one of South Australia’s most accomplished agents and auctioneers; REIA Operational Leader of the Year 2020, ACT Telstra Businesswoman of the Year and Director of The Property Collective, Hannah Gill; and Sadhana Smiles, a multi-award winner for her work in business and the community.

Ms Smiles, CEO of Real Estate Industry Partners, gave great insight into preparing for the next cycle in real estate in her session ‘Getting ready for the next wave!’

Two panel sessions featured RE/MAX associates: Gizzelle Powell, Jacqui Walker and Ben Williams for sales and Amanda Wecker, Cyndi Ward and Alana White for property management.

Shawna Gilbert from RE/MAX LLC joined the RE/MAX Australia members. She leads the RE/MAX Global division which services clients in over 110 countries and territories.

“Shawna is well-known to many of our business owners and agents, and while she hasn’t been able to join us in person for a while, EVOLVE gave her a chance to interact face-to-face,” Mr Davoren said.

As at previous EVOLVE events, attendees experienced the freedom to participate in real time from their office or home, oscillating between networking mode, where they could move from table to table and engage in face-to-face group and private chat, as well as presentation mode for key speakers, with the opportunity to be involved in real-time web discussion.

Mr Davoren said virtual conferencing would continue to complement traditional models on the network’s events calendar in the future.

“The platform not only gives everyone availability and access to amazing training and content on the day, but there is also the added flexibility of taking it all in at any time thereafter.

“Such an event is also a great opportunity for our business owners to invite agents interested in joining their teams to enjoy the great content, excellent speakers and chat with others in the network, and there were quite a few at EVOLVE III who got a taste of what being part of RE/MAX is all about,” he said.

EVOLVE was BMA’s first virtual event. The company had produced events using the technology prior to the event in May last year but RE/MAX was the first in the real estate industry and a very early adopter.
