Local heroes honoured in community campaign

Laing+Simmons has revealed its 10 Real Heroes: the coaches, carers, volunteers and regular Aussie battlers who have each now received $5,000 as part of the company’s campaign honouring the ‘unreal efforts of real people’ in the community.

The Real Heroes campaign saw Laing+Simmons give away $50,000 to 10 local heroes in the community after receiving hundreds of nominations from across New South Wales.

Anyone could nominate someone as a Real Hero and put them in the running for one of the $5,000 donations.

Laing+Simmons Operations Manager and the driving force behind Real Heroes, Jackie Jones, said the campaign had been both heart-warming and inspirational, with many tears shed.

“The 10 worthy winners we’ve selected have some tremendous stories to tell and the work they do to help others is inspiring,” Ms Jones said.

“It’s been a pleasure listening to what they have to say, understanding their motivations for giving back, and seeing the difference they are making in the community.

“Being able to show our appreciation for their efforts has been really rewarding for everyone at Laing+Simmons involved in the campaign.

“Real Heroes was about creating real connections in the communities in which Laing+Simmons has a presence and acknowledging the efforts and sacrifices of people at the local level who make those communities better places for everyone.”

Without further ado, the 10 Laing+Simmons Real Heroes for 2019 are:

• Jo Marx, It’s About Us on Sydney’s North Shore
