Kirsten Dunst’s former New York penthouse hits the market

Two years on from her Oscar nomination for The Power of the Dog, Kirsten Dunst is set to dazzle audiences once again in the eagerly anticipated A24 action thriller Civil War.

Coinciding with her cinematic comeback, Dunst’s erstwhile New York penthouse has re-emerged on the property market.

Nestled atop a pre-war co-op in the vibrant Hudson Square neighbourhood of lower Manhattan, this industrial-chic sanctuary is listed for just under US$7 million, according to the Robb Report.

Acquired by Dunst in 2007 for US$3 million, the loft at 533 Canal Street became her retreat until 2018, when she sold it for US$4.4 million, turning a tidy profit.

Following her departure, the apartment served as a rental, fetching $12,500 per month.

Characterised by its oversized arched windows, 11-foot high ceilings, and expansive hardwood floors, the residence exudes an air of spacious elegance.

A recent comprehensive renovation has further elevated its appeal.

The heart of this two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment is its newly revamped chef’s kitchen, boasting modern appliances, marble countertops, and custom cabinetry.

The master suite, reimagined with a bespoke wardrobe leading to a luxurious windowed walk-in closet, and an ensuite bathroom featuring a standalone vintage tub, separate shower, and heated mosaic-tiled floors, offers a private haven.

Meanwhile, the secondary bedroom doubles as a library, with a concealed Murphy bed for guests, and access to the second bathroom.

This unique building, dating back to 1911, has a storied past, including hosting the legendary Canal Zone party in 1978, attended by luminaries like Jean-Michel Basquiat before his rise to fame.
