Hospitality tycoon Justin Hemmes has added another Byron Bay beachfront property to his growing northern NSW portfolio, settling on an $18 million Belongil Beach home last week.
The four-bedroom beach shack sits on two titles totalling 1580 square metres, with 20 metres of direct beachfront.
It last changed hands in 1998 for $875,000 – a fraction of this week’s price according to realestate.com.au.
The property had been held by its previous owners for more than 30 years before hitting the market.
The two-storey residence sits atop a dune, capturing ocean views across the Pacific to Julian Rocks and Cape Byron Lighthouse.

Rock wall protection is in place, with private steps leading directly to the beach.
The purchase continues Justin’s buying spree in the Belongil Beach precinct.

In 2023, the Merivale founder acquired two nearby beachfront houses for $16 million and $22 million respectively.
Last November, he added another property on the peninsula for $3.75 million.

His total Belongil Beach investment now sits at approximately $59.75 million across four properties.
Belongil Beach lies just north of Byron Bay township.
The area has attracted significant hospitality investment, including chef Shannon Bennett’s $10 million multi-venue precinct, The Belongil, which opened recently.
Denzil Lloyd from Sotheby’s International Realty held the listing.
