Josh Gillespie expands into Colonel Light Gardens

The team behind Ray White Unley have taken over ownership at Ray White Colonel Light Gardens in Adelaide’s inner south.

The announcement:

The powerhouse team behind Ray White Unley have expanded into their second location and have taken over ownership at Ray White Colonel Light Gardens, in Adelaide’s blue chip inner south.

Josh Gillespie, who opened his doors at Ray White Unley in 2016, said that moving into his second location in Colonel Light Gardens was a natural progression for the team. Under Mr Gillespie’s leadership, the Unley office has seen huge growth of market share and a 16-strong team.

“This new location is the next step for us to completely service the inner suburbs of Adelaide, and I have such confidence and faith in the wonderful team around me to make this happen,” Mr Gillespie said.

Existing principal of the Colonel Light Gardens office Matt Giblin will be staying on as a sales agent within the business, as well as sales agent Brian Wellington.

“I am thrilled about the merging of our businesses and to have both Matt and Brian with their years of experience as part of our team’s new growth phase, ” Mr Gillespie said.

Mr Gillespie’s rise to success has been a quick one, having left his job as a painter and plasterer for a career in real estate in 2015.

“I really enjoyed the process of buying and selling property, and knew that I always had an underlying passion for real estate,” he said.

Mr Gillespie had a discerning eye when it came to opening his real estate business, consulting with many existing principals and the Ray White corporate team.

“The technology that Ray White offered was a major selling point for us, the systems available and the corporate support are second to none,” he said.

Colonel Light Gardens is one of Adelaide’s most beautiful, sought-after suburbs, known for its tree lined streets and bungalow style homes. Mr Gillespie said that the appeal of the inner city suburb is in its character homes that are heavily protected by government heritage regulations.

“Nothing can be done here without state approval, which means that all homes retain the beautiful, original character of this area, even if owners opt to do a tasteful renovation,” Mr Gillespie said.

Mr Gillespie is raising his own family in the area; he and his wife have just welcomed twin girls to their family along with their two year old eldest daughter.

“It is an extremely family friendly area, filled with beautiful parks and cafes,” he said.

“The market here is absolutely going off at the moment. We have seen a 15-20 per cent price rise in the last six months alone. The suburb is tightly held and there is a small turnover of properties, which makes it all the more special.”

The existing Unley team are already heavily familiar with the Colonel Light Gardens area, and many of the agents will be moving over into the Colonel Light Gardens office to further focus their efforts there.

“I really enjoy being a selling principal, and I believe it keeps me at the forefront of how the market is going to service my clients as best as I can,” Mr Gillespie said.

“We will really be focussing on our sales business in this region over the next couple of months, building up our market share and recruiting more excellent people into our business.”

Ray White South Australia /Northern Territory CEO Matt Lindblom congratulated Josh Gillespie on the expansion of his business.

“Josh has done a tremendous job since joining us with his business in Unley, and it was a natural progression for him to take the real estate market in this region even further,” Mr Lindblom said.

“We thank and congratulate Matt Giblin, and look forward to supporting Matt, Josh and the entire team as they expand into this new venture.”
