Hmlet opens biggest co-living property in Sydney

Australia’s largest co-living company is opening its biggest co-living property to date in Sydney’s inner suburb of St Peters.

With 82 rooms, Hmlet St Peters will open in November 2019 and will further expand Hmlet’s reach to meet the needs of Australians and expats looking for new living alternatives in Sydney.

Having successfully opened eight properties in Sydney since launching in Australia in January 2019, Hmlet has anchored its presence in Sydney’s Inner West with properties in Newtown, Marrickville, Petersham and Alexandria, creating a network of members and a growing vibrant community.

Hmlet Australia Managing Director Chrystan Paul said they chose St Peters as their latest and largest property to date in Australia because of its close proximity to the city and vibrancy of the surrounding suburbs.

“Our decision was also aided by the fact that our Newtown property is a few hundred metres away and has had 100per cent occupancy since opening earlier this year, therefore we know there is high demand from our members to live in the area,” Mr Paul said.

The four-storey warehouse conversion boasts original brick walls alongside Hmlet’s renowned minimalistic interiors, with the co-living units finished with polished concrete floors and oversized balconies.

Hmlet members are able to connect and socialise in the courtyard, offering expansive outdoor space where members can enjoy sunset drinks and a pop-up outdoor cinema, surrounded by a fruit and herb garden.

“The building itself is among the best build-to-rent projects in Sydney and is very much conducive to co-living,” Mr Paul said.

“When discovering the communal features of the property, we started bringing together ideas such as the pop-up cinema that would boost the property’s amenity and also provide an additional touch point for our members to connect and socialise.”

With 82 rooms to choose from across 38 brand new units, members have the option of five different room types starting from $370 per week, inclusive of bills and community events, paired with the flexibility of a minimum stay of three months.

All units are serviced and beautifully furnished, offering state-of-the-art appliances and design elements from Hmlet’s in-house design team.

Founded in Singapore in 2016, Hmlet recently raised AUD$55 million in a Series B round in July 2019 to accelerate growth across Asia-Pacific.

Hmlet has quickly become the fastest growing co-living company in the Asia-Pacific, driven by a vision of providing flexible, affordable and community-led housing options for the modern resident.

The company continues to grow at a rapid pace with plans to expand in Melbourne and Brisbane.

Co-living is an emerging trend and a welcome solution for renters who are seeking an alternative living arrangement.

Hmlet St Peters, located on the corner of 8 Hutchinson St and 29 Applebee St, will open to the public on 15 November
