Harcourts’ GoodNight Tasmania campaign hits target

The Harcourts Foundation is thrilled to announce that their GoodNight Tasmania campaign, in partnership with Backpack Bed for Homeless, has successfully reached its initial goal of funding 231 Backpack Beds.

This milestone means we can provide emergency relief bedding to every person currently identified as sleeping rough in Tasmania.

While we are proud of this achievement, the need for support continues to grow.

We are committed to continuing our fundraising efforts to ensure we can help every individual facing homelessness.

Your ongoing support can make a real difference.

The GoodNight Tasmania initiative, a statewide homeless program, was launched to supply the innovative Backpack Bedโ€”a portable, all-weather shelter and 135L backpack combined.

This study-proven solution is designed to improve the dignity, health, sleep, and comfort of those sleeping rough.

The campaign’s success was driven by a strong partnership between The Harcourts Foundation, Backpack Bed for Homeless, and the Tasmanian community.

“Reaching this target means we can provide a safe and comfortable night’s sleep for every homeless person in Tasmania,” Tony Morrison, CEO of Harcourts Tasmania said.

The initial push for the campaign came from a generous donation of the first 150 Backpack Beds, valued at $150 each, from The Harcourts Foundation itself, which catalysed the community fundraising efforts needed to secure the remaining beds.

The overwhelming response from the public has been instrumental in hitting this crucial goal.

Pauline Smith, Head of The Harcourts Foundation, added, “This achievement is a testament to the incredible generosity and support of our community.”

The collective effort underscores a shared commitment to addressing the immediate needs of the most vulnerable in the region.

While celebrating this achievement, the Harcourts Foundation remains focused on its long-term goals.

“We are committed to continuing our efforts and expanding our reach to help even more people in need,” stated Belinda Dowde, Harcourts Foundation Ambassador for Tasmania.

The Harcourts Foundation plans to build on this momentum to support ongoing and future initiatives aimed at alleviating hardship in Tasmania.

The Harcourts Foundation is the charitable arm of Harcourts, dedicated to providing support that helps, grows, and enriches communities. Since its launch in 2008, the Foundation has provided thousands of grants to community groups.
