The instantly recognisable home made famous by The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is preparing to hit the market, with an asking price just under US$30 million (about A$45 million).
The Georgian Colonial-style estate, best known as the exterior of the Banks family mansion in the hit 1990s sitcom starring Will Smith, is expected to be listed later this month.
TMZ reports the sale will mark the first time the property has been offered to buyers in 48 years.
Despite the show’s title, the house is not located in Bel-Air. Instead, it sits in Brentwood, one of Los Angeles’ most prestigious and tightly held neighbourhoods.
Built in 1937, the two-storey residence spans approximately 10,000 square feet and sits on a substantial 38,510-square-foot corner allotment.
In reality, the home comprises six bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms, differing from the fictional layout portrayed in the series.
Its symmetrical façade, columned entrance and classic detailing made it one of the most recognisable television exteriors of the decade, despite all interior scenes being filmed on a soundstage.

The listing is being handled by The Altman Brothers, who publicised the upcoming sale on their Instagram page.
“One of the most iconic homes in Los Angeles is about to hit the market. For the first time in decades, the original exterior façade of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a globally recognised Georgian Colonial estate, will be offered for sale.”
The surrounding area is notable for its celebrity history, with Judd Apatow having recently sold a neighbouring home and O.J. Simpson’s former Rockingham estate located just two blocks away.
Former Los Angeles mayor Richard Riordan also lived nearby.
The timing of the sale coincides with the property currently being used as a filming location for a Netflix production, keeping the famous exterior in the public eye as it prepares for its market debut.
