A well-known property from one of Britain’s most-watched TV shows has gone up for sale, with the former Emmerdale village post office heading to auction later this month.
The iconic building, located in the village of Esholt near Bradford in West Yorkshire, carries a guide price of £200,000 (around AUD $380,000) and is expected to attract interest from both property buyers and fans of the long-running ITV soap.
According to The Irish Sun, the post office featured in hundreds of scenes during Emmerdale’s early years, before filming moved to a purpose-built set on the Harewood Estate in 1997.
Since then, the building has remained a recognisable landmark for viewers across the UK.
Last year, the post office business itself was sold to a local buyer and Emmerdale fan, Helen Myers.
Now, the freehold property is being offered at auction on January 28 through Pugh Auctions, part of Eddisons.
The listing describes the building as a “rare opportunity” to acquire a grade II-listed end-terrace shop in the sought-after village of Esholt. Positioned on Main Street, the property sits within a conservation and green-belt area and is surrounded by a mix of residential and commercial buildings.

According to the listing, the post office is currently subject to a six-year lease running until 2031, with an annual rent of £11,385 (approximately AUD $21,600).
Pugh Auctions director Will Thompson said the building holds strong appeal beyond its commercial potential.
“Esholt post office is not only an attractive and characterful building in a popular village, but it also has a special place in the hearts of Emmerdale viewers across the country,” he said.
