The one-time home of legendary Nine News presenter Brian Henderson has returned to market in Sydney’s Middle Cove, with expectations it could fetch up to $15.95 million at auction, according to realestate.com.au.
Mr Henderson, who fronted Channel Nine News for 46 years until his retirement in 2002, purchased the 1797sqm property with his wife Mardi in 1994 for $850,000.
The couple commissioned acclaimed architect Mike Macauley to design their dream home among the trees.
The five-bedroom residence at 13 The Quarterdeck sold for $11.5 million in 2021 following Mr Henderson’s death that year.
The buyers were Microsoft Australia and New Zealand president Jane Livesey and her husband Neil, a former PwC consulting partner.

The Liveseys have since undertaken significant renovations to the contemporary brick and concrete home, which features separate living and accommodation wings connected by floor-to-ceiling steel windows designed to frame the surrounding bushland.
The kitchen now features Calacatta Viola marble benchtops, a Pitt gas stovetop, Gaggenau ovens and a Liebherr fridge, with a separate butler’s pantry and wine and coffee station in the dining room.

A games room on the ground floor includes a marble bar, built-in entertainment systems and a 1500-bottle temperature-controlled wine cellar. The primary suite features Poliform wardrobes and an ensuite with a concrete-fluted bathtub.
The property, which overlooks Fig Tree Cove, has previously featured on The Middle Cove Walk organised by the Australian Architecture Association. It comes with DA approval for a new 25m pool.

Peter Kakos of Atlas Lower North Shore, is selling the property alongside Michael Coombs.
The price guide sits at $14.5 million to $15.95 million.
