The recent winner at the REINSW Gala Awards Night has been training with the company for the past twelve months, demonstrating exceptional skill and passion for auctioneering before formally joining the team.
Clarence White, Director and six-time REINSW award winner himself, expressed pride in the new addition to their team.
“We’ve put Scott through his paces in training within our system over the last twelve months and he’s shown enormous skill and passion for the craft,” Mr White said.
“He’s demonstrated the kind of pedigree we would expect from someone who has not only fallen in love with auctioneering but also has a natural aptitude for it.”
The appointment has special significance as Scott is the cousin of co-director Paul Menck, bringing another family member into the business.
Paul Menck highlighted the personal connection, noting the shared interests that made Scott’s integration into the company a natural progression.
“It’s a proud day for me particularly to be able to bring another member of my extended family into our business,” Mr Menck said.
โScott has always been a competitive soul and we share many interests in common, particularly in sport and fitness, so it was a natural progression to bring him into the fold at MW.”
Scott’s journey in auctioneering reached a milestone with his recent award win, which he attributes to the training and support received from the Menck White team.
Since representing NSW at the Australasian Novice Championship in Adelaide in May, Scott has been conducting auctions across various locations from Bowral to Bronte, building his experience in the field.
The new auctioneer acknowledged the challenges of entering Sydney’s competitive independent auctioneer environment, particularly in earning the trust of agents.
“The biggest challenge in entering what is a highly competitive independent auctioneer environment in Sydney is earning and winning the trust of agents; having them first give you an opportunity and then develop faith in your skills such that they are willing to keep using you,” Scott said.
He emphasised the advantage of joining an established brand with strong industry relationships, which provides opportunities that might otherwise be unavailable to newcomers in the field.
Menck White Auctioneers is known for its commitment to professional development, with weekly training sessions that demand passion and dedication from team members.
The company focuses on elevating how their clients’ brands are perceived in the marketplace, an ethos that Scott has quickly embraced according to Clarence White.
Scott expressed gratitude for the opportunity to join the team, acknowledging the benefit of sharing a surname with one of the company directors.
“I wasn’t sure if my cousin was going to want me to follow him into the business but I am super grateful he’s embraced me. Having the same surname as a name on the door doesn’t hurt,” he said.
The addition of an award-winning auctioneer strengthens Menck White’s position in the Sydney market, where the company has established a reputation for quality auctioneering services.
“I’m stoked. I owe a huge debt to Clarence and Paul for the training and support they gave to help me win the title. And having the honour to travel to Adelaide to compete at the first ever Novice Austro was a highlight that won’t soon be forgotten. I just feel incredibly lucky to have the chance to join such an amazing team with such a rich history of success,” Scott said.
