Fitness mogul Kayla Itsines secures $13m Gold Coast waterfront estate

The Sweat app co-founder has been struggling to find the right property in southeast Queensland's competitive prestige market.

Kayla Itsines has paid $13 million for a Mermaid Waters mansion, ending what she described as a difficult search through the Gold Coast’s high-end property market.

According to realestate.com.au, the fitness entrepreneur and Sweat app co-founder purchased the waterfront home with husband Jae Woodroffe ahead of its scheduled auction.

The couple had been inspecting properties across southeast Queensland’s prestige suburbs and even considered renting before securing the deal.

The 2,280-square-metre triple block includes 81.5 metres of waterfrontage. The five-bedroom home features a tennis court, infinity pool, pontoon and boat shed.

Cohen Handler’s Luke Serhan negotiated the purchase.

The property was listed with Kollosche agents Gypsea Youngsmith and Michael Kollosche.

Completed in 2023 by DB Build, the home won the President’s Award at the 2024 Gold Coast Housing and Construction Awards.

Sydney architects Hicks and Holmsted designed it in a tropical colonial style with pitched roofs, French doors and wide verandas.

The $13 million sale sits below Mermaid Waters’ residential record of $14.005 million set last year.

Itsines relocated from Adelaide to Queensland in 2024 after selling her renovated 1920s Malvern bungalow for a suburb record of $7.375 million.

She co-founded Sweat with business partner Tobi Pearce, selling the app to US company iFIT for a reported US$400 million in 2021, before the pair bought it back in 2023 for an undisclosed and reportedly much lower sum.
