โAt a time when the digitisation of financial advice has reached its tipping point, both new and experienced financial advisers must be ready to lead the industry forward with ideas and innovation. Industry influencers will be instrumental in this exciting growth period,โ said Darren Snyder, editor at Financial Standard.
The list of individuals was determined through an industry-wide nominations phase followed by a voting phase that garnered a record number of more than 7,000 votes.
In compiling the list, Financial Standard defined โinfluentialโ as individuals who have been or continue to be instrumental in shaping the future of the financial advice industry.
These are financial advisers who have actively participated in industry-based activities, community-based projects and/or other initiatives designed to promote the important role that financial advisers play in the country’s socio-economic future.
All 50 financial advisers featured in the list were also screened to ensure they are all licensed to provide personal advice based on the ASIC FAR (Financial Advisers Register), have met minimum professional educational standards, and are members of at least one industry association.
โThese 50 individuals have made an enormous impact in the industry. They have demonstrated their commitment and intention to usher financial advice into the consumer age,โ said Michelle Baltazar, publisher at Financial Standard.
Among the key statistics of the FS Power50 are:
- 43 out of the 50 individuals on the list boast more than 10 years of experience (nine have more than 20 years).
- Only 16 of the FS Power50 come from practices with less than 10 staff. Majority have 10 staff or more.
- 34 out of 50 have a Bachelorโs or Masterโs degree while the rest have, at minimum, professional diplomas.
- Education: Women are 3x more likely to have a Masterโs Degree than men
- Two in five FS Power50 are women.
The financial advisers featured are a diverse group with a range of specialisations including ย self-managed superannuation advice, financial advice to specific professions, and some focus on addressing market gaps, be it financial advice for women or for the millennial generation.
