The establishment of a Melbourne office marks a strategic expansion into Victoria, with Armstrong overseeing established homes and new project sales and developments across the city’s premium property market.
Mr Armstrong joins Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty with more than a decade of experience across premium residential and large-scale mixed-use developments, most recently he was Head of Sales and Leasing at GURNER Group.
“I’m thrilled to be joining a brand with such an extraordinary heritage and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to bring those values and uncompromising standards to the Melbourne market – where there is genuine demand for a team that combines local experience with global reach,” Mr Armstrong said.
Owned by Mark Harris, Julian Brown and Rob Curtain, the business’s Melbourne expansion marks the brand’s formal move into the city after six years on the Mornington Peninsula.
The Peninsula operation will continue to be led by Curtain, who has long overseen the brand’s presence there while Harris and Brown, principals of New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty, will drive the new Melbourne-focused as they expand their successful trans-Tasman operation.
With more than 20 years’ experience with the Sotheby’s International Realty brand, the pair have grown their New Zealand network from a two-person operation to 31 offices – making it the leading agency in New Zealand’s prestige residential real estate market – and work with HNW buyers across the globe.
“The past two decades has been about disciplined brand protection and long-term relationships and our strategy for Melbourne will follow that same framework,” Mr Harris said.
With Mitch at the helm, I’m confident we will bring the same levels of performance, integrity and client service to the Melbourne market.”
“The Sotheby’s International Realty network and its relationship with the Sotheby’s auction house means we have a reach beyond anything previously offered in Melbourne,” Mr Brown said.
“The demand from our Australian and international clients requires a unified team and the opportunity in Melbourne aligns with our brand’s heritage and our vision for the next chapter”
The Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty corporate head office will open in early 2026 in Melbourne’s Hawksburn Village, a premium address chosen for its proximity to the city’s core luxury precincts.
The new office will act as the strategic hub for recruitment, brand partnerships and the group’s residential projects offering, working with Melbourne’s most exclusive developments.
With a brand heritage that spans more than 1,100 offices across 85 countries and territories, Sotheby’s International Realty offers an unparalleled international footprint that provides Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty unprecedented global visibility and access.
