After 26 years with the business, CEO Ward Dedman will transition from his executive role but remain connected to EBM Group as a Non-Executive Director and shareholder, maintaining the ties he has held since 2009.
The transition to the ‘new’ CEO will be smooth with EBM Group’s Executive Chairman and Founder, Alan Bishop, taking up the reins.
“Alan’s vision and deep understanding of EBM’s values have guided the business since its beginning, and his leadership will continue to shape EBM Group’s future with focus and purpose,” Mr Dedman said.
Ward Dedman has spent most of his 30-plus years’ experience in the insurance industry with EBM Group, joining in early 2000 and moving up the ranks from General Manager to Managing Director (Group Operations) and then into the CEO/Executive Director role.
He has a long association with the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) including serving as Chairman of NIBA’s WA Divisional Committee and as NIBA National Vice President.
Ward was named National NIBA Young Professional Broker of the Year in 2007.
During this tenure, EBM Group has expanded from the original broking division, EBM Insurance & Risk (1975) and EBM RentCover (1991), to also include CoverLink which was established in 2013 to facilitate the management of underwriting, insurance binders, facilities and schemes, with services provided exclusively to EBM Group; and EBM CoverLink which has specialised in retail and micro-SME insurances since 2022.
Chairman and Founder Alan Bishop paid tribute to Ward saying he had made a very significant contribution to EBM Group and would continue to do so in his ongoing role as Director and shareholder.
“Ward leaves the CEO role knowing EBM Group is in very good shape, having marked its 50th anniversary this year, and positioned itself well for the challenges and opportunities of the next 50 years,” he said.
“Ward embodies the philosophy and values of EBM Group and his focus on trust, integrity and genuine relationships will no doubt continue to underpin the success of his future endeavours.”
Mr Dedman said he looked forward to supporting EBM’s next chapter while also pursuing some personal and business interests.
