Richard Matthews Real Estate donates $20,000 to Beyond Blue

Smashing their original fundraiser goal of $10,000, Richard Matthews Real Estate in Sydney’s inner west, have raised $20,000 in donations for Beyond Blue since June.

The Richard Matthews Real Estate (RMRE) team raised $8450 in community donations for Beyond Blue and, exceeding the promise to match donations, instead rounded up to a generous $11,550 donation from the company.

A cause very close the hearts of the entire team at Richard Matthews, they were ecstatic to hear the funds will directly help 418 people seek support from a mental health professional by either phone call, web chat or email through Beyond Blueโ€™s 24/7 Support Service.

RMRE co-director and auctioneer Richard Baini felt current conditions made the company initiative all the more vital.

โ€œAt a time when so many people are suffering, it is even more important that those in need have all the support possible to get them through tough times,โ€ Mr Baini said.

โ€œWhat has been most uplifting is seeing so many people reach out during difficult financial times for themselves, to protect and show care to others in need.

โ€œFor those of us in the industry, we know of many people that suffer depression thinking they arenโ€™t performing at the same level as those recognised as high performers. We have seen many good people leave the industry and more seriously, attempt harm on themselves as a result.

โ€œWe are all equal, blessed with our own special talents and qualities, and are tremendously important to our loved ones, both family and friends.

“This has been a beautiful experience and our team are forever grateful for the compassion shown by everyone.โ€

RMRE co-director and auctioneer Matthew Everingham agreed, adding Beyond Blue’s services were “invaluable, even more so at a time like this”.

“We see the impact in our industry especially. Donโ€™t be afraid to reach out to those close to you, and remind those in need there is support available, it might just change their life,โ€ he said.

Back in May, Mr Everingham spoke about the enormous prevalence of mental health issues across the real estate industry.

โ€œIt was incredible seeing facts showing that over 65 per cent of real estate agents suffer from some form of mental health issues, we are in such a high pressure industry,โ€ Mr Everingham said.

โ€œRichard Matthews Real Estate thought there was no better way to show our support to Beyond Blue than supporting them directly.

โ€œThey offer free support 24/7 to those most in need and the work they do to raise awareness with mental health is invaluableโ€.

The fundraiser was initiated in the lead-up to R U OK? Day and has now finished.
