The New York City townhouse where Katharine Hepburn lived for more than 60 years has had its price reduced for the fourth time since hitting the market.
The Turtle Bay property, on Manhattan’s east side, is now asking US$6.195 million (approximately A$9.8 million), down from its original US$7.2 million (A$11.4 million) listing price in 2024.

Katharine reportedly owned the home from 1931 – just before her Hollywood breakthrough – until her death at age 96 in 2003.
The actress holds the record for the most Academy Awards won by any performer, with four Best Actress wins across a career spanning five decades.

According to Mansion Global, her estate sold the property in 2004 for US$3.9 million (A$6.2 million). The current owner is now seeking a return after more than two decades of ownership.
The 19-foot-wide townhouse spans approximately 4,600 square feet across multiple levels.

Features include a stone-tiled entrance foyer, an eat-in kitchen with custom cabinetry, a butler’s pantry, and a dining room with the original marble wood-burning fireplace.
The formal living room has a Juliet balcony, while the library features floor-to-ceiling windows.

The primary suite includes its own wood-burning fireplace, high ceilings, and a bathroom with a claw-foot soaking tub.
Katharine’s original mirrored vanity remains in place.
Outside, the property has a bi-level flagstone patio and landscaped garden with mature trees, flowering bushes and a fountain.

A wooden gate provides direct access to Turtle Bay Gardens, a private park shared by residents of the surrounding 20 townhomes.
The home is listed with Lisa Larson of Sotheby’s International Realty – East Side Manhattan Brokerage.
