Queensland cricket allrounder Jack Wildermuth is building foundations for his post-playing career, recently joining Knight Frank Australia’s commercial property team as part of their student internship program.
The 31-year-old has also locked up a new two-year deal to play for the Brisbane Heat, converting his strong end-of-season form for the Bulls in the Sheffield Shield into his latest BBL contract.
Knight Frank Australia’s Managing Director Queensland and Head of Capital Markets Queensland Justin Bond said he was excited to have Wildermuth working at Knight Frank.
“We are thrilled to have Jack on board at Knight Frank, giving him hands-on experience as a professional in the commercial property space while he undertakes his study at university and plays an instrumental role for the Brisbane Heat and Queensland Bulls,” Mr Bond said.
“Knight Frank is passionate about supporting professional athletes and providing career opportunities to players outside their sporting careers with roles that are flexible and can work in around their training and match commitments.”
Mr Wildermuth, who is studying a Bachelor of Business (Management) at Griffith University, is based in Knight Frank’s Brisbane office, with his first rotation in Capital Markets.
“Like many sportspeople, Jack displays characteristics that we look for in real estate professionals that will see them succeed in high-performance agency-oriented environment, including resilience, discipline and dedication to achieving success,” Mr Bond said.
“We hope Jack will gain valuable experience and skills at Knight Frank that can provide a pathway to a career he could potentially move into post his studies and cricket career.”
This year, Knight Frank has employed 12 students nationally in their final year of Property to give them practical and varied experience in the industry, offering individual mentor support, structured rotations, and a tailored learning program.
On the cricket front, Mr Wildermuth produced consecutive Shield centuries for the Bulls against South Australia, hitting 104 in the last regular season game and then scoring 111 in the Shield Final.
Bulls and Heat coach Johan Botha sees Wildermuth as a sound investment in local talent.
“With the international player draft coming up this week, it was an excellent chance for us to extend Jack’s involvement with the Heat and fill an allrounder spot,” Mr Botha said.
“Jack is a genuine allrounder and gives us a lot of options when it comes to match-ups and team balance. It is great to have him on board for another two seasons.”
The new deal will see Mr Wildermuth bring up seven consecutive years with the club, having been part of the squad since 2020-21 after making his debut with the Heat in 2016-17.
