Ian Hazan and David Morris appointed to HIA leadership roles

Ian Hazan has been named National President of the Housing Industry Association (HIA), while David Morris steps into the National Vice President position.

The Housing Industry Association (HIA) has announced the appointment of Ian Hazan as National President and David Morris as National Vice President.

Mr Hazan brings over 30 years of experience in the residential building industry to the role, having previously served as Vice President supporting outgoing National President Debbie Johnson for the past two years.

A dedicated industry advocate, Mr Hazan has held volunteer positions with HIA for more than 15 years, including serving as Victorian President and chairing several national committees including Training and Professional Development, Membership, and Technical committees.

Mr Hazan was appointed to HIA’s National Board of Directors in 2016 and is known for his passion for innovation in the industry.

“I am keen to ensure HIA is well equipped to support builders and the broader industry to navigate technological and business changes well into the future,” Mr Hazan said.

David Morris, the newly appointed National Vice President, is a Director of Tasmanian law firm Simmons Wolfhagen, where his work has focused on advice and advocacy in the residential sector.

Mr Morris has particular expertise in local government matters, specifically around planning approval processes.

Prior to joining HIA’s National Board of Directors in 2021, he served regionally and nationally on HIA’s Industrial Relations Committee, becoming National Chair of this Committee in 2017.

HIA acknowledged the significant contribution of outgoing National President Debbie Johnson, who completed her two-year term.
