Hope at Christmas with REIWA and the Salvosย

REIWA member agencies across Western Australia will serve as collection points for The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, providing convenient locations for community donations.

REIWA president Suzanne Brown said many agencies were located at local shopping and commercial centres and were a convenient place for people wishing to donate and support the long running appeal.

โ€œREIWA is proud to continue its support of The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, which makes a real difference in peopleโ€™s lives at Christmas time. The Salvation Army Appeal is a great way for Western Australians to reach out and help others at Christmas,โ€ Ms Brown said.

โ€œAdding a few items to the weekly shop and then dropping them at the local real estate office on the way home is a simple way to help out the less fortunate.

โ€œThrough donated food and gifts, The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal offers both practical help and a touch of festive spirit.

โ€œREIWAโ€™s ongoing commitment to the Christmas Appeal through our philanthropic Community REInvest program, helps support the Salvos to continue their vital work caring for vulnerable individuals and families across WA,โ€ Ms Brown said.

From Monday 3 November to Friday 28 November, 36 REIWA member agencies across Perth โ€“ and one in Kalgoorlie -will be accepting public donations of non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped gifts.

REIWA House at 215 Hay Street, Subiaco, will also serve as a collection point.

REIWA will then pass the donated goods to The Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army spokesperson Warren Palmer said the Christmas Appeal was important to give hope to Western Australians needing support.

โ€œChristmas can intensify financial and emotional pressures for those already experiencing disadvantage, together with those falling into hardship,โ€ Mr Palmer said.

โ€œAs costs in all areas of living remain high, the Christmas Appeal aims to provide support for WA families experiencing food and financial insecurity.

โ€œWith the potential of Christmas aspirations disappearing for some, the goal for the Salvos Christmas Appeal this year is to be the hope for families, and to do all we can to ensure people receive the help they need.

โ€œTogether with REIWA and Community REInvest partners, we believe that this hope can start in every office that provides an opportunity for donations of food, toys and gifts. Together, we can all be the hope for our communities.โ€

Ms Brown said the Christmas Appeal was a special campaign on REIWAโ€™s Community REInvest calendar.

โ€œOver the past decade, REIWA members have been proud to support vulnerable members of the community throughout the year with our Community REInvest program. The Salvos Christmas Appeal is a special initiative for agents to help share the Christmas spirit among all West Australians,โ€ she said.
