The Stanford White-designed estate in Purchase, NY, is described by insiders as “one of the county’s most architecturally significant private residences.”
According to Page Six, the property was previously listed last year for $22 million (AUD$33.4 million), significantly more than the $2.8 million (AUD$4.2 million) Cole paid when he purchased it in 1991.
Built in the 1900s, the mansion has a rich cultural history, having been featured as a filming location in the 1969 adaptation of Philip Roth’s novel “Goodbye, Columbus,” starring Ali MacGraw and Richard Benjamin.

Zillow reports the impressive property spans 14 gated acres and includes a 12,000-square-foot residence with seven bedrooms spread across three levels.
The estate features extensive gardens surrounding the main house and includes three separate office spaces, making it suitable for both residential and professional use.

Cole, whose fashion brand is reportedly valued at over $1 billion (AUD$1.5 billion), previously explained his decision to sell the property to Bloomberg, citing that his three children are now adults.

At 71, the footwear mogul appears ready to downsize from the expansive estate.
The mansion’s appeal was apparently sufficient to attract George Clooney, who rented the property while performing in “Good Night, and Good Luck” on Broadway.

Clooney received a Tony nomination for his role in the theatrical adaptation of his acclaimed 2005 film.
