Founded 14 years ago by Adam Thomson with just three people and one office, the business has been built from the ground up through consistent reinvention, disciplined growth and a focus on long-term leadership.
Today, Ray White A T Realty Group employs more than 200 people and is recognised as one of New Zealand’s most awarded real estate businesses, with offices in Manukau, Manurewa, Mangere, Mangere Bridge, Auckland Central and Wynyard Quarter.
“This expansion is about looking at the city market for what it is today, not what it used to be,” Mr Thomson said.
“Auckland is increasingly investor-driven, lifestyle-focused and interconnected.
“Our role is to build a business that reflects where the market is going, not where it’s been.”
Alongside Thomson, business partner Tom Rawson brings deep on-the-ground experience to the expansion.
Having personally transacted more than $2 billion in property alongside Mr Thomson, Mr Rawson’s leadership bridges elite sales performance and scalable team development.
“These markets are more connected than ever,” Mr Rawson said.
“This expansion gives our people the ability to operate across South Auckland, the city and the waterfront under one culture, one system and one leadership framework, while delivering stronger outcomes for clients.”
The move into Auckland Central and Wynyard Quarter reflects a clear strategic alignment between South Auckland and the city.
Although being on the opposite sides of the city and seen as completely different market places Mr Thomson and Mr Rawson said there were a lot of similarities in the markets including crossover in buyers and how the markets function.
“Both markets are heavily influenced by investors and see a high volume of sales,” Mr Thomson said.
“Both markets are seeing strong demand for luxury and high-end properties, with many homeowners downsizing from larger lifestyle blocks into premium apartment living.”
The acquisition also strengthens the group’s established capabilities in projects and off-plan sales, a core specialisation across South Auckland and now right across Auckland.
In parallel, property management remains a key growth pillar. The group has been the number one Ray White property management business for three consecutive years, currently managing over $1.8 billion in property Auckland wide, with a clear focus on expanding into the city’s luxury rental market.
Ray White A T Realty Group’s growth has been underpinned by industry award-winning operations beyond sales performance, including administration, training and management.
Recent recognition includes REINZ Agency of the Year (All Disciplines) 2024/25 and Ray White International Administration Team of the Year 2025.
At scale, the business now sells approximately 2000 properties per annum, supported by structured leadership programmes and defined career pathways designed to support long-term professional growth.
“The foundation has always been our people,” Mr Thomson said.
“This move ensures our team and our clients are positioned for the next chapter of Auckland property.”
Ray White New Zealand chief executive Daniel Coulson said Ray White AT Realty Group was an asset to the network, and congratulated the team on their growth.
“We are proud to support the continued growth and ambition of Adam, Tom and their team who are longstanding, exceptional leaders within our group and market leaders within the wider industry,” Mr Coulson said.
“Their acquisition of Ray White Auckland Central and Ray White Wynyard Quarter is a strong signal of confidence in the future of the Auckland central property market.”
