Cameron McIntyre to lead REA Group as new CEO

Cameron McIntyre has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of REA Group Ltd, set to take the top position from November 3, 2025, following the retirement of current CEO Owen Wilson.

Mr McIntyre brings extensive experience from his nine-year tenure as Managing Director and CEO of CAR Group Limited, where he oversaw significant expansion that grew the company to more than six times its original size.

REA Group Chairman, Mr Hamish McLennan, said he was confident in the appointment following a worldwide search.

“We are delighted to announce Cam’s appointment, following a comprehensive global search,” Mr McLennan said.

โ€œHis proven calibre and unique experience, including a deep understanding of, and success in, a business that has much in common with REA, make him the ideal person to build on REA’s strong momentum and lead its next phase of growth.โ€

The appointment comes after Mr McIntyre announced his departure from CAR Group, where he has worked for 18 years in various leadership roles including CFO before becoming CEO.

During his time at CAR Group, he was credited with transforming the company into a global business.

Mr McIntyre said he was excited to be joining REA Group.

“I’m thrilled to be joining REA Group,” Mr McIntyre said.

โ€œThis is an inspiring and iconic business that I’ve long admired and whose products I’ve observed and used extensively for many years.

โ€œREA has outstanding market-leading brands, a talented team, an incredible culture and a lot of growth potential.โ€

The leadership transition at REA Group has been carefully planned, with current CEO Mr Wilson continuing in his role until October 31, 2025, to ensure a smooth handover.

After stepping down as CEO, Mr Wilson will take on the role of Chair of REA India Pte. Ltd.

Mr McLennan acknowledged Mr Wilson’s significant contributions during his nearly 11-year tenure with REA Group, including more than six years as CEO.

“Since announcing in February his intention to retire, Owen has continued to lead REA with enthusiasm and dedication,” Mr McLennan said.

โ€œWe are extremely grateful to Owen for his commitment to REA and the significant impact he has had in his leadership, first as CFO and then as CEO.โ€

Mr McIntyre’s departure from CAR Group marks the end of an era for the company, which praised his leadership style and achievements.

“From leading our IPO as CFO to scaling the business more than fivefold as CEO, his vision, humility and people-first leadership have left an enduring legacy,” CAR Group stated in their announcement.

“Having led the growth and transformation of CAR Group’s business, Cam has a wealth of experience in successfully leading a thriving global digital business,” Mr McLennan said.

โ€œHe has consistently executed strategies that enhance value for customers while breaking new ground to improve the consumer journey.โ€
