Traineeships for PMs to provide employer benefits through subsidies

The Property Management Academy of Australia (TPMAA) have announced that some of their graduates who are in some cases eligible for wage subsidies.

TPMAA Director Jody Marsden said two students from this month’s graduating class had obtained financial support which would be directly payable to their new employer.

“When I launched TPMAA, my goal was to train students to become competent property managers that were equipped with the skills to hit the ground running in their new job,” Ms Marsden said.

“What we’ve been able to achieve has been so much more rewarding, as we’ve helped multiple people who were unemployed or in low-income roles up skill and commence a career that has real progression opportunities.

“For example, one of my current graduates, Renee Carr, had been unemployed for a number of months but had always had a passion for real estate.

“Renee enrolled in TPMAA and then applied for financial support through full-time Employment Solutions, who covered the cost of the course for her plus are offering a wage subsidy of $1,650 to any employer who hires her in a full-time role,” said Ms Marsden.

Ms Marsden also reflected on Cathy Mulombe, who completed a Work Skills Traineeship with her TPMAA studies, and says that the employer who hires Cathy in a full-time role is eligible for a Work Start incentive payment of $10,000.

“It’s a win-win for agencies who employee these students – not only will they hire well-trained, competent property managers but they will also receive financial support to assist with wages and other onboarding costs.

“It’s the best feeling, knowing we’re helping real estate agencies overcome the shortage of skilled property managers, especially when you consider there are more than 1,100 property management positions advertised on SEEK in Queensland at the moment.”
