Tom Ainsworth receives redundancy from Domain as restructure is announced

Domain’s chief sales officer Tom Ainsworth has been made redundant as CEO Jason Pellegrino makes major restructuring changes in the business.

According to a memo sent to Domain staff yesterday, the restructure will see the business split into two main arms – B2B and B2C.

The split has seen the former chief product and customer experience officer Tony Blamey promoted to chief commercial officer. The business is still recruiting to replace Melina Cruickshank in the chief consumer officer role. Ms Cruickshank recently moved to REA.

In the memo, shared to Elite Agent by Domain, Mr Pellegrino notes that his first 100 days as CEO have been spent getting to know the business, which has led to the decision to restructure with an aim to focus on growth.

The Agency/Business, or B2B, side of the business will work with agents and corporate customers. This will include the property listing business, but also the solutions and revenue streams around that – including agent products and services. This business line will include the existing residential, commercial, developer and media, agent services and corporate sales teams.

The Consumer, or B2C, side will be focused on growing the consumer base of the business. They’ll be focusing on developing new products and improving the customer experience, according to the memo.

Mr Pellegrino went on to say the new structure is simpler, which will allow the business to be more nimble. He also states that it’s clear to him that both consumers and agents are equally important in the ongoing success of Domain.

Mr Blamey’s promotion into the COO role will see him head up the B2B side. Domain have said they are actively recruiting for the CCO role, as well as a replacement for Mr Blamey’s previous role of chief product officer.

Domain has stressed that these changes are originating from Mr Pellegrino alone and are not related to the merger of Nine and Fairfax, which officially commenced on December 10.
