Stars align for new RE/MAX Pokeno owners

An agent who made ‘Rookie of the Year’ in her first 12 months with RE/MAX has taken over ownership of the Pokeno office, bringing her passion for the local community to the business.

Lisa Walden, who is now in her fourth year with RE/MAX, along with her husband Kevin, launched RE/MAX Stars at 68 Great South Road on 1 June – the same date the office first became a RE/MAX office in 2016.

Born in Pokeno, Ms Walden is truly a local expert, bringing her own personal twist to the familiar three Ps of successful business with her passion for people, property and Pokeno.

“We might possibly be the smallest office in terms of floor space, but we’ll definitely be known as the office with the biggest heart,” she said.

Ms Walden said taking on ownership came earlier than she’d planned, but that when Eric Chase decided to concentrate his business efforts in Remuera, she knew it was the right move.

“It was such an amazing opportunity to take over a business so well-established and continue that legacy,” she said.

“I’d had a year as team leader which had, to an extent, prepared me – and I guess you could say the stars aligned.”

Ms Walden said growth in and around Pokeno was creating the need for high-quality local sales and property management services.

The Waldens plan to grow their business reputation for exceptional service in sales and property management, alongside their long-time team of Gemma Rowlinson, Yasemin Mead and Shell Wade.

RE/MAX Stars also has a deep commitment to, and involvement with, the Pokeno community.

“We sponsored the Pokeno Midwinter Charity Ball last month and are major sponsors of the Pokeno Quiz Night, the Pokeno Primary Schools gala day and activities of other schools in the area, and the local Maramarua golf club,” Ms Walden said.

“We hope to do something for the community to be involved in every two months.”

The pair launched their business with a bang, on day one announcing a competition for customers to win a blue Honda Jazz RS Sport from Honda Pukekohe.

Ms Walden said the competition will run for a year and anyone who lists, sells or buys through RE/MAX Stars will be in with a chance to win.

RE/MAX New Zealand Managing Director Michael Davoren welcomed the couple as RE/MAX broker owners.

“Launching RE/MAX Stars in Pokeno presented an exciting business opportunity for Lisa and Kevin, and for our network,” he said.

“We are delighted they have taken the step into business ownership, with the full support of RE/MAX New Zealand and the global RE/MAX network behind them.”
