RE/MAX Appoints General Manager for New Zealand

Corinna Mansell has been appointed to the position of General Manager, RE/MAX New Zealand, in a strategic move by the master franchise’s owners who acquired RE/MAX New Zealand and RE/MAX Australia in December 2012.

Owner and Managing Director, Michael Davoren, said Mansell’s extensive franchising background matched her to the critical role of putting the right team and structures in place to grow the New Zealand network and assist broker owners grow their businesses.

Mansell joined the company in July last year as Franchise Development Consultant to facilitate the transition of new business owners and real estate teams into the RE/MAX group and serve broker owners through consulting on growth, production and profitability. These responsibilities continue.

“Because of the uniqueness of the RE/MAX system, we have taken the time to fully immerse Corinna into the RE/MAX model where she can appreciate its points of difference and recognise it as a successful model for the New Zealand real estate industry moving forward.

“We are placing RE/MAX at the forefront of where the industry is heading, concentrating on larger offices supporting greater numbers of agents than simply opening more offices, and establishing the right people in strategic locations.

“New Zealand real estate offices will continue to grow both in numbers of agents and the services provided by an office,” said Davoren,” and with the constant technological advances, there is greater capacity for people to work remotely; so we can expect that real estate businesses will expand without us necessarily seeing bigger physical premises.”

Mansell, whose real estate career spans more than 25 years, says prior to Davoren, Chris Chapman and Keith Walker taking ownership, RE/MAX New Zealand was steered from the United States.

“RE/MAX is global, with a presence in more than 95 countries. Running the region from international headquarters in Colorado was a situation fraught with challenges and difficulties,” she said.

Davoren says Mansell is the right person to lead the New Zealand network.

“Corinna has walked in the shoes of the people in our real estate offices, and she is the person that can take them to the next stage of business ownership and successful real estate careers. There is now a proven leader from New Zealand to lead New Zealand.”

“The platform for RE/MAX New Zealand growth is a foundation of exceptional people,” said Mansell.

“When the Real Estate Agents Act was legislated in 2008, it created a whole new platform for the industry particularly with its focus on compliance and excellence.

“RE/MAX, like the Act, expounds excellence rather than supporting mediocrity.”

She said her attention would be on markets across both islands, including obvious areas of focus like Auckland and Wellington.

“Christchurch is the fastest growing city in South Island and Hamilton, in the Waikato region, is the North Island’s fastest growing city; and Bay of Plenty, Lower South Island and the West Coast of South Island are very much on my radar, but that is not to say many provincial towns don’t figure.

“The needs of every location and community will be looked at separately,” she said.

Another commitment from Mansell is to increase her network’s relationship with the New Zealand Real Estate Institute.

“I am planning to have a far greater involvement with REINZ personally and professionally, and look forward to supporting RE/MAX New Zealand offices in their participation with the Institute.”
