RE/MAX agent celebrates fun and fashion for a good cause

Sunshine Coast real estate agent Sandra de Jersey put on her fourth Fabulous Funky Fashion event at Kawana Surf Club recently, raising around $3700 for the Cindy McKenzie Breast Cancer Program.

More than 100 guests attended the afternoon tea party, with some coming from as far afield as Canberra.

Ms de Jersey is a sales and marketing consultant with RE/MAX First in Caloundra, and almost the whole real estate team were able to attend.

“Two RE/MAX First ladies, Gayle Marshall and Gillian Hendry, made wonderful models for the stunning Veducci Clothing; our property manager, Charlie Campbell, was a brilliant MC; and the talented Yianni Mooney stepped up as auctioneer to raise the bids for fantastic prizes donated by local businesses, Ultiqa Shearwater Resort, Frocals and Hammond’s Optometry.

RE/MAX First owners, Karl and Lindi Rademeyer, gave 15 tickets away through Facebook, and the lovely ladies who won them truly got into the ‘pink pink pink’ spirit of dressing up!”

The not-for-profit Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Foundation operates in association with Buderim Private Hospital, assisting women and their families living with cancer.

This cancer charity is very special to Ms de Jersey as her mother, Eileen, was diagnosed with cancer at age 37.

“I was fortunate enough to have mum until she was 69 but she went through being diagnosed, through radiotherapy and chemotherapy, three times; and there was nothing like the Cindy McKenzie Breast Cancer Program in Malaysia where she lived,” Ms de Jersey said.

She said the winner of ‘Best-dressed’, a voucher from Sebel Pelican Waters, gave a special touch to the event.

“Joyce Schulte looked beautiful, and she is a breast cancer survivor herself.”

Ms de Jersey’s fashion fundraisers have become a much-anticipated event.

“People are already asking what I’m planning next,” she said.
