Owen Wilson appointed Chief Executive Officer of REA Group

In an announcement to the ASX today, REA Group has announced that Owen Wilson will be taking over from Tracey Fellows as CEO when she steps down from the role in 2019.

Ms Fellows is moving to New York to take on a new role as President of Global Digital Real Estate with REA Group majority shareholder News Corp.

Mr Wilson has been with the company since 2014, joining as its Chief Financial Officer. He’s been responsible for the company’s financial portfolio, including strategy, M&A and operations.

Prior to this he worked in a similar role at Chandler MacLeod Group Ltd. Mr Wilson has also spent time at both ANZ and KPMG across Australia, Asia and in the UK.

Hamish McLennan, Chairman of the REA Board of Directors said, “Owen has played a critical role in REA Group’s growth. He has a deep understanding of the company, our long-term strategy and the importance of our customers in driving business success.”

“The Board has worked closely with Owen, over the past four years in his capacity as Chief Financial Officer and we are excited by his vision for the future of REA,” said Mr McLennan.

“Leading the REA team will be a privilege and I look forward to working with them to continue to deliver our growth strategy both domestically and internationally. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way, especially Tracey,” said Mr Wilson.

“REA Group is in a strong position. My priority is to ensure we continue to drive value for all our customers and consumers in Australia and Asia.”

Mr Wilson will commence in the role as CEO from January 7, 2019.

Alongside the commencement there are other leadership changes in the company. Henry Ruiz will expand his role from CEO of REA Group Asia to REA Group CEO Asia and Chief Strategy Officer. In this new role Mr Ruiz will drive the long-term growth strategy for the company in both Australia and Asia.
