Ned Kelly’s Childhood Home Hits the Market

A property that includes the historic Victorian childhood home of Ned Kelly has hit the market.

The bluestone heritage listed cottage shares a 3.5 acre block of land with a second federation-style home.

“Two homes sit on the same lot. This property not only includes a well kept family home that is ready to move into, it’s also an opportunity to secure a piece of Australia’s history,” Andrew Bellino, selling principal of Ray White Craigieburn said.

Ned Kelly’s childhood residence, located at 44 Kelly Street Beveridge, remains in its original condition.

“The Heritage listing in place means that the former Kelly home has never been – and will never be – changed. The building as it stands today is exactly as it was when Ned Kelly lived there as a child,” Mr Bellino explains.

The four bedroom family home that shares the block features period finishes such as high ceilings and lead light windows.

“It’s a superb home. It’s immaculate, practical and the floorplan is designed for families. Hardwood floors, chef’s kitchen and an open fire are big features of the home,” Mr Bellino said.

The listing at 44 Kelly Street, Beveridge will go to auction on 20 September 2014. Mr Bellino says that market feedback will help determine the value of the property.

“There aren’t a lot of sales in the area and certainly none that are comparable to this property.

“Throughout the marketing campaign we’ll listen to what the market is saying and that will guide the price expectations on the property,” Mr Bellino concludes.
