Sales Professional Damian Portaro, of Barry Plant Mildura, is a top 3 finalist in the Customer Service category of the Regional Achievement & Community Awards in Victoria.
The Regional Achievement and Community Awards is the most prestigious and publicly recognised regional awards program in Victoria, NSW/ACT, Queensland and Western Australia. The objectives of the Awards are to encourage and acknowledge individuals, communities, businesses and groups who are making a significant contribution to regional and rural areas.

Damian has worked in real estate for close to 5 years, and has always been with the Barry Plant Group – Victoria’s top real estate network. He grew up in the Mildura
district, so his local knowledge is second to none.
Damian’s focus on customer service never wavers, ensuring the Barry Plant Red Carpet Experience stretches all the way to Mildura.
“I get a real kick out of helping people,” Damian said. “I want our customers to have the very best experience.”
From helping 65 families during his first year in real estate in 2012, to serving over 140 families in the last financial year, Damian’s results speak for themselves.
Referrals from people he has dealt with and repeat clients are now a big part of his business, and he has a string of testimonials from delighted buyers and vendors.
“It’s all about hard work and putting effort into what you do.” Damian said.
Damian is viewed by his peers as an up-and-coming high achiever in his field, and has ranked among the Top Sellers at the Barry Plant Group Awards for Excellence for two years running, despite sale prices in regional Victoria being lower than in metropolitan areas.
He has changed his reporting and communication methods to clients, to increase client interaction, engagement and awareness. He has improved his client
management program, enabling more frequent contact with existing, past and future clients, and he has also broadened his gift program to ensure clients are
rewarded every step along the way.
Personal development is an ongoing commitment for Damian, as Director, Martin Scott, attests to.
“Damian puts his best foot forward every day,” said Martin. “Without fail, he undertakes some form of training daily in order to grow professionally and to
continue to motivate himself.”
In constantly striving to always give his clients the very best, Damian found he just couldn’t achieve the high service level he wanted to deliver on his own, so he hired a personal assistant – something that is uncommon in regional real estate offices. His assistant, Sonia Muttock, has proven invaluable.
“I couldn’t offer this level of service without Sonia’s help,” Damian said.
