Franchise head recognises client relationship most important

Growth was high on Managing Director Michael Davoren’s agenda when he took ownership of the RE/MAX Australia franchise in December last year.

Just into the seventh month, he announces five significant events in Queensland:

  • RE/MAX Connected opens at North Lakes, north of Brisbane.
  • RE/MAX Hinterland opens at Maleny on the Sunshine Coast.
  • RE/MAX Beach City opens at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast
  • RE/MAX Victory opens at Caboolture between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
  • RE/MAX Property Centre in Toowong, servicing a premier Brisbane real estate market, has new owners.

“Jenny Andrews, from North Lakes, has rebranded her independent agency while Bill Rex transfers his business from another major real estate group. In Maleny and Caboolture, experienced RE/MAX property specialists take their next career move with new businesses; and with Brad Jackson deciding to hand over the reins of his leading agency at Toowong, we’ve been fortunate to attract experienced owners from a major real estate name to buy into RE/MAX Australia with RE/MAX Property Centre,” Davoren said.

Also opened in the first few months of 2013 were RE/MAX Capital in Queanbeyan, NSW, and RE/MAX Sunstate Realty at Paradise Point on the Gold Coast.

Davoren said that interest in acquiring a RE/MAX franchise had seen exceptional growth through the first half of this year.

“Potential business owners and sales associates appreciate that they are not dictated to by an overriding body and can individually make timely and efficient business decisions.

“In real estate, the client relationship, whether with sales agent or property manager, is the most important.RE/MAX recognises this, and as a genuine and tangible point of difference, uniquely promotes that relationship rather than putting a brand first and actively promotes individual personalities and their businesses within the business.

Under the RE/MAX model, real estate offices are generally larger with a sizable property team servicing a market of genuinely realistic proportions.

“It is another attraction: we do not need to position an office on every corner.”

In December 2012, Davoren announced a goal of doubling the number of offices and sales agents within five years, which will potentially put RE/MAX in the top five networks in terms of turnover, and reports they are ahead of target before mid way into the first year.

Co-owners owners Keith Walker, Franchise Director, and Chris Chapman, Finance Director, joined Davoren in acquiring the Australian master franchise in December 2012 after negotiating the buy out over some nine months. The same team also took over ownership of the RE/MAX New Zealand master franchise.
