Less than a week after its official launch, Australian start-up PropertyBlurbs.com has appointed John Shore, former CEO of Ray White Victoria, as its Sales Director. In the role, Mr Shore will be responsible for the business expansion of PropertyBlurbs.com across Australia and internationally.
The appointment is something of a coup for PropertyBlurbs.com. Mr Shore boasts an illustrious 30-year real estate career, including the aforementioned role of CEO of Ray White Victoria, National Real Estate Manager at Landmark (AWB), and director of Ray White Chelsea.
Interestingly, PropertyBlurbs’ co-founder, Glenn Murray, said the appointment of a Sales Director wasn’t planned for some time. “Although we recognised the need for a biz-dev specialist,” he said, “we thought we’d take our time after launch, finding our feet, feeling out the market, and deciding on our next move.
“Instead,” he went on, “we got a call from John a day after launch, and two days after that we had a bona fide Sales Director!”
Mr Shore said he felt compelled to act quickly. “I didn’t want to miss the chance of getting involved. “So I flew up from Melbourne and ‘stated my case’.
I trialled PropertyBlurbs the day it was launched, and I knew immediately it was big,” he said. “Really big. In fact, I honestly think it’s the biggest thing to happen to the real estate industry since the introduction of real estate web portals. For the price of a cup of coffee, it generates four professional quality property descriptions, all different lengths. Then I can copy and paste them wherever I like — to the internet, a tweet, the local newspaper, and so on. All in less than five minutes!
“If that’s not big, what is?” he asked. “I’m not bad at writing property descriptions but it takes me a lot longer than five minutes, and that’s time I should be spending winning listings and finding buyers.”
PropertyBlurbs co-founder, Mr Murray, said Mr Shore will play a vital role in the future success of the company. “John has such an impressive background,” he said, “I couldn’t believe our luck when he called. His 10-year stint as CEO of Ray White Victoria, in particular, really impressed me. Building that operation up from just 30 offices to more than 100 was no mean feat. We’re really hoping he can work the same magic for us.”
