Roz Taylor, CanTeen’s National Partnership Manager said: “CanTeen is delighted to be part of the Stayz Give & Getaway. Funds raised for CanTeen will give young people living with cancer, and their families, the opportunity to have their own getaway from the daily stresses that they experience in the hospital and the home as the result of a cancer diagnosis.
“Every year in Australia, thousands of young people are suddenly confronted with a cancer diagnosis, whether it is their own or that of a parent, brother or sister. CanTeen helps young people learn how to deal with the emotional, physical and practical issues of living with cancer so they can take back control of their lives. CanTeen is also committed to providing support to the families of those who have been affected by cancer, so that no young person has to go through cancer alone. Every successful getaway bid for CanTeen is an investment in the future of young Australians who are living with and have been affected by cancer.”
Heather Neil, CEO of RSPCA Australia said: “RSPCA cares for more than 150,000 animals each year and investigates 50,000 complaints of cruelty and neglect. With less than three per cent of the RSPCA’s operational funding coming from government, we rely on the generosity of Australians to keep our doors open and we are incredibly grateful for Stayz’ support. Funds raised through this initiative will support the work of the RSPCA in caring for and re-homing animals, investigating cases of animal abuse and cruelty and campaigning for stronger animal protection laws in Australia.”
Anton Stanish, Stayz Group General Manager adds: “Over the past two years, we have raised more than $130,000 from the auctions, so we are very excited about this year’s campaign. All campaign proceeds will be directly donated between both charities, so we’re urging people to get online, find a great holiday rental getaway and support these worthy causes. We have some amazing properties on board this year and of course, the charity auction would not be possible without the generosity of our property owners who have kindly donated a stay at their holiday rental in support of these great causes.”

Every year 15,000 young Australians have a parent diagnosed with cancer, which can have a devastating impact on a young person. A cancer diagnosis causes fear and uncertainty and can threaten the security of a young person’s world, leaving them feeling vulnerable, frightened and confused.
No matter where a young person is on their cancer journey or how their life has been impacted, CanTeen provides a safe environment where they can learn how to deal with the emotional, physical and practical issues of living with cancer and take back control of their lives.
About the RSPCA Australia
The RSPCA is the voice for the animals of Australia. We give care and protection and fight to stop animal cruelty. We offer shelter, veterinary attention, rescuing and rehoming of animals.
The RSPCA prosecutes those who have harmed animals and works to give guidance to pet owners. Across Australia, the RSPCA receives around 155,000 animals into its shelters each year and investigates around 50,000 complaints of cruelty.
Our programs assist the community to care for their animals, educate the public on animal welfare issues and promote empathy and understanding. We also help victims of domestic violence, homeless people, socially isolated and elderly people by taking care of beloved pets in times of crisis.
As a community based charity with less than 3% of our funding provided by governments, the RSPCA relies heavily on the generous support of donors to continue our vital work.
