Buxton Bentleigh rewarding young talent in real estate and paving the way for future leaders

One of Victoria’s best performing real estate offices Buxton Bentleigh has promoted young team members to reshape the traditional ownership model in real estate and the broader business environment.

Buxton Bentleigh now has six new Directors all in their 20s and 30s joining existing Directors Chris Hassall and Craig Williamson.

The new directors who have been promoted to the leadership team are Ivan Blow, Lauren Muller, Phoebe Righetti, Sam Maley, Simon Pintado and Simon Wood.

Managing Director Craig Williamson said the unusual move is the direction that is needed.

“We are open minded and saw potential in where these individuals were heading, and the best way for us to recognise this is by getting them involved in the business.”

The breakdown of real estate’s traditional business model has seen a huge shift towards technology and digital media, and it is the millennial generation that Craig believes is vital to the industry’s evolution.

“They are naturally tech proficient and bring the right enthusiasm and energy.

“These attributes are critical to the success of any business in a changing and evolving environment,” he said.

In recognising the integral role of their young leaders, Craig and Chris place a large emphasis on training, nurturing and education, with team members participating in 1-4 hours of training per week.

“The training we have provided has made them ready to evolve as agents and allows them to make strong contributions as leaders in the business,” he said.

Craig believes investing in younger staff and promoting them to business owners is paramount to the growth of a team, helps reduce turnover and contributes to the greater good of the business and clients.

“We can already see the upside and know that the strongest possible way for us to recognise that is to continue to take the leap,” said Craig.

Buxton Bentleigh Director Chris Hassall, aged 35, is presenting at Australian Real Estate Conference (AREC) this year and hopes to share his tips for success.
