Barry Plant CEO says ‘quality over quantity’ as the group expands in Victoria and ventures into South Australia.
The Barry Plant Group has made an auspicious start to 2016 with the opening of three new offices, including its first in South Australia.
CEO Mike McCarthy said the group plans to add up to six further offices in the Melbourne area over the next two months.
“This is just the start of what’s going to be a busy expansion period,” Mike said.
The newest offices to join the Group include Box Hill and Drouin in Victoria, and Norwood in South Australia.
The opening of its first South Australian office in the Adelaide suburb of Norwood is an exciting development for the Group, and also for Michael Duff, director of the new office. Michael is supported by Elesa Wood as General Manager and Linda Baker as Sales Manager. All three are highly experienced local agents with over 30 years combined experience in Adelaide real estate.
“We took the opportunity to expand into South Australia when some real estate professionals with excellent credentials approached us,” said Mike McCarthy.
“We are delighted with quality and experience of our first South Australian franchisees. They have set the bar very high for any future franchisees in that state.”
Michael Duff looked at several franchise options before settling on Barry Plant.
The Barry Plant Group is the number one real estate network in Victoria, claiming in excess of 13% market share in Melbourne and surrounds. Despite its growth and success, the brand has retained its ‘boutique’ feel and has never wavered from its core values: to treat every customer with the trademark Red Carpet Experience.
“Barry Plant was the only group offering a full package of support,” Michael Duff said. “Our customers will have access to resources that are hard to come by in South Australia. The brand has an unrivalled reputation in Victoria, which we can’t wait to introduce here.”
“Norwood is the first of a limited number of franchises we are planning for South Australia,” Mike McCarthy said. “We’re looking to maintain a high standard and work closely with the directors rather than simply have lots of dots on the map.”
The Drouin office is a prime example of expansion from within the group, and is tipped to be a huge success with Director Matthew Ketteringham at its helm.
Matt took ownership of the Barry Plant Pakenham office in 2008, which he grew from a single employee office to a thriving team of 20 with multiple awards to its name.
“We’ve enjoyed watching Matt grow the Pakenham office into the powerhouse it is today,” Mike McCarthy said. “Matt and his team have done a brilliant job, and we are thrilled to see him expand into the surrounding area of Drouin.”
Matt, who has been in the real estate business since 1999, said the Pakenham office already services many customers in Drouin. The new office will be staffed with an energetic young team to fit the local demographic.
“Drouin is an up-and-coming area,” Matt said. “It is still affordable for first homebuyers, and offers a diverse range of property types.”
Box Hill sees new franchisees Lindsay Mai, Ricky Chan, Marcus Wong joining the tight-knit Barry Plant family.
The existing Barry Plant network has traditionally serviced Box Hill, but the changing demographic has created demand for a dedicated office.
“We are pleased to have secured the right franchisees for the new office to serve the Box Hill demographic,” Mike McCarthy said.
